new york city DREAMING

Here is something that I did as an experiment.  Walking in New York city, I felt as if I was constantly walking into a crowd.  I was disoriented, and adrift from my family, since I was behind my lens.

I was in constant motion and tried to capture this with my camera….How did I DO?

  1. That is so neat! I love pictures like this. It’s so real. 😀 Kind of poetic, at the risk of sounding silly.

  2. Gail, this is what photographic creativity is all about. What a superb idea and, very well executed. 1, 5 and 6 speak loudest to me but as a series.. you clever thing! Well done and thank you for sharing. Inspiring stuff. 🙂 Warm regards from a sunny corner of Scotland… R.

    1. Thank you for your thoughtful comments ROB…my favorite one is the upper right corner..it really gives me a sense of the city. I’m wondering if it’s the red that guides you through the street? Or, maybe because that’s my son in the red jacket.

  3. I love these kind of images Gail, I think you did great. I’m a fan of this type of photography – here is a link to one of my posts -http://joeinfocus.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/the-ghost-of-42nd-street/

  4. Hi, Gail. I read your post a few days ago and had to think about my reaction before I commented because your pictures made me feel melancholy. I think your thoughts and fractured photographs made me think of being disconnected from family, a natural emotion, I guess, as our children are adults now and growing away from us, yet still so close. Anyway, I’m not melancholy anymore, just impressed with the reaction and response I had from your creative photography. Very cool.

    1. Elisa-that certainly makes me happy, and sad. I totally understand what you’re feeling. I’m right there with you. My daughter is getting ready to travel to Australia, to study abroad, and my son off to college.
