new york city AGAIN

This was a wonderful weekend to travel to New York City.  My husband and I had a wedding to go to on Saturday evening.  We arrived at out Hotel around 3:00pm, and we were told our room wasn’t available. (here is the back story on the hotel…We have stayed at the same hotel for the last 15 years.  It is on the East side in the 60’s on Park Avenue.  The location is in walking distance of everything…we were there last month and had really bad service.  I’m not one to complain, but they sent us a questionnaire, and I just told them what I experienced.  Needless to say, they offered us an upgrade to a one bedroom suite on our next stay…that just happened to be this weekend).  I of course immediately rolled my eyes, here we go again….I guess the front desk person looked at out record and went to get the manager…he immediately apologized and upgraded us to the Presidential Suite…this was going to be great. Our room was on the 18th floor, bedroom, dining room , office, kitchen, living room, and the piece de resistance…a balcony that wrapped around the whole place.  What a great start to our weekend.

We changed our clothes and made our way towards 66th street to find a wedding gift and visit a friend from home…Both missions accomplished, a vintage martini shaker for the bridge and groom (second marriage) and a quick tour of our friends digs.

The wedding was beautiful and understated, in an old private club, housed in an old brownstone. The night was over early and we opted to walk home…but, how could I, I had on high heels.  I told my husband, you should walk in my shoes.  He quickly pulled off his shoes and gave them to me, I put them on and we walked back to our hotel.  Me wearing his shoes in stocking feet, my shoes in hand.  Back to the hotel, almost safe and sound…Talking on the phone and negotiation curbs with bigs shoes on, resulted in a face plant and 2 scratched knees. A couple of band-aids and I was good to go.

Sunday morning, breakfast, MOMA, macaroons and a visit with my mother-in-law…what a great trip…Take a look a the pictures!

  1. You look too cute in the shoes. I like them. Your poor husband is shoeless, but trucking right along as if he had shoes. One would never notice. What a cool guy. I love the big, spraddle-legged dog. And the view of the street without a wall to hold onto about made me fall off the edge! I enjoyed these immensely, Gail. We got to see you guys and NYC too and hear about your trip. Nice.

  2. I thought you were styling in Davids shoes..Leave it to you to start a new trend.. I was in the city yesterday . Round trip Acela, meeting and then Maxs Deli ( oye vey)
